The District Registration Authority of schools in Rawalpindi on Friday directed unregistered private educational institutions to complete their registration within one week. Institutions that fail to do so will face sealing of their premises.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the authority chaired by Deputy Commissioner for Social Services Fazail Mudassar. Officials said unregistered private schools must submit the required documentation and meet all legal requirements within the seven-day window.
According to the authority, enforcement action, including sealing of premises, will follow if the deadline is missed.
During the same meeting, registration applications for 35 newly established private educational institutions were considered. One application was rejected due to incomplete documents. The remaining 34 were made conditional on the submission of certificates for IT rooms and science laboratories, which the district registration committees have made mandatory.
Safety checks also under way
Separately, officials noted that a survey covering thousands of schools has been conducted. Around 143 government-run schools have been asked to complete safety measures within one week. Action will be initiated against institutions that fail to meet the safety requirements.
The registration drive forms part of ongoing efforts to bring private schools under the formal regulatory framework in the district.
Parents whose children study in private schools should confirm the registration status of the institution. School operators have been given a clear deadline to regularise their status or face closure of operations.
Details of the decision were reported by Dawn.
